Hi there, it’s so great to meet you! I’m Mrs. T. (Love 2 Teach and Learn) or you can call me Jen – a Michigan mom, wife, new grandma (aka “Jemma”) and K-12 PE teacher who has also taught Kindergarten, 3rd, and 6th grades.
In this post love2teachandlearn (Mrs. T.) will share every awesome detail related to how to easily add these Halloween PE Station Ideas to your October PE Class Schedule.
PE Station #1: Pumpkin Ghost “Boo”ling

SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 Basketball, 10 Bowling Pins, Black Dry Erase Marker
PE STATION SET-UP: First, using a black dry erase marker, draw a fun ghost face on your white bowling pins, Next, grab an orange basketball to use as your pumpkin (bowling ball). FINALLY, set the ten pins up in a pyramid (4-3-2-1) formation – just like regular bowling.
HOW TO PLAY: Just have fun knocking the ghosts (pins) down with the pumpkin (basketball) and BOWL – wacky style, normal or whatever works for you.
PE Station #2: Pin the Heart on the Skeleton

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Large Cardboard or Paper Skeleton, Several Cut-out Red Paper Hearts, Blindfold, Tape
PE STATION SET-UP: Hang the Skeleton up on a gym wall with tape. Place a basket filled with the blindfold, red paper hearts, and some tape at the station.
HOW TO PLAY: Each students should put on the blindfold, have their classmates spin them around a few times, then walk forward and pin (or tape) a red heart on the skeleton. The student who gets the closest to where the skeleton’s heart would actually be – WINS.
PE Station #3: Mummy Wrap Relay

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Several Rolls of Toilet Paper
PE STATION SET-UP: Place the toilet paper rolls in a basket at the station.
HOW TO PLAY: Have students take turns turning their classmates into mummies by wrapping them with the toilet paper. Use as a fun station activity or as a whole class relay race.
PE Station #4: Pumpkin Patch Mini Golf

SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 Large Pumpkin, Several Small Pumpkins, Mini Golf Putting Green (if you don’t have one, here’s how to easily make your own), Golf Putter, Golf Ball
PE STATION SET-UP: First, lay out the putting green. THEN, place the large pumpkin at the end of the green. Finally, scatter all of the small pumpkins (obstacles) around the green.
HOW TO PLAY: Students take turns putt-putting to the large pumpkin – count how many strokes it takes them to hit the large pumpkin with their golf ball.
*Sometimes, I line up several putting greens to make an extra long pumpkin mini golf hole. The kids think this is so cool.
PE Station #5: Halloween Cup Stacking

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Several Orange and Black Solo Cups, Basket for the Cups
PE STATION SET-UP: Simply place a basket with all of your cups in it at the station.
HOW TO PLAY: Allow students to cup stack or work together to build a giant haunted tower or spooky house with the cups.
PE Station #6: Spooky Hoops

SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 Basketball Hoop, Large White Tablecloth, Rubber Bands, Scissors, Black Sharpie Marker, 8-10 Tennis Balls
PE STATION SET-UP: First, make your ghosts by cutting the white tablecloth into 8-10 square pieces. Then, place the white square around a tennis ball. Next, secure with a rubber band and draw a ghost face with a black Sharpie marker. Finally, place the ghosts in a basket near your basketball hoop.
HOW TO PLAY: Instead of basketballs, students have fun throwing the ghosts into the basketball hoop.
PE Station #7: Monster Mash Dance Party

SUPPLIES NEEDED: Fun Halloween Dance Music
PE STATION SET-UP: Place the Halloween dance music at the PE station.
HOW TO PLAY: Allow your students to play the Halloween music, dance, and have an absolute blast. My students often like to play Ring-Around-the-Dancer at this station.
PE Station #8: Witch’s Broom Limbo

SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 Broom (that’s it)
PE STATION SET-UP: Simply place the broom in the corner of the gym where you plan to have this cool station.
HOW TO PLAY: Kids take turns holding and lowering the broom as others do the limbo under the broomstick, seeing who can get the lowest to the ground without falling.
PE Station #9: Spider Maze Challenge

SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 Stopwatch, A Bunch of Jump Ropes
PE STATION SET-UP: Simply place the stopwatch and jump ropes in a basket.
HOW TO PLAY: Just have fun and BOWL – Students work together to make a giant spider web on the gym floor with the jump ropes. Then, students take turns using the stopwatch to time how long it takes each person to get through the maze without touching any part of the spider web.
PE Station #10: Trick-or-Treat, Move-Your-Feet

SUPPLIES NEEDED: A few Hula Hoops, a Few Buckets, Unifix Cubes or Bean Bags
PE STATION SET-UP: Place the Unifix Cubes (separated) inside of the buckets and place the buckets, along with the hula hoops at the station area.

I’ve been running Pe Stations with my students for many years now and feel like I have a pretty good system set up that helps my stations run pretty darn smoothly.
Here are a few PE Station Set-Up Tips for you that have worked really well for me over the years.
PE Station Tips for You
- GROUP SIZE: Try to keep your station groups between 3-5 students. Anything more or less than that can make things a bit challenging.
- CONE MARKERS: I like to use bright colored, medium-sized cones to mark my different stations. I also number each station by simply writing or taping numbers on a piece of paper and taping it to the cones.
- EQUIPMENT: I like to put a basket with all equipment needed for that station next to each numbered cone.
- STATION ROTATION: I have found that having my students rotate from numbered cone to numbered cone in a counter-clockwise direction works really well. So, when it’s time to rotate, the kids at Station #1 will go to #2, #2 goes to #3, and those at #4 will rotate to Station #1.
- USE MUSIC: I love using music in the gym – not only is it fun for the kids and I to listen to but it seriously works as the absolute best classroom management too. My rule is: MUSIC ON-Your Turn, MUSIC OFF – My Turn! When I stop the music, my students know that it is time to rotate WITH THEIR STATION GROUP MEMBERS to their next station. Once everyone is at their next station – start the music back up again.
