Polka Dot Pass

Hi there, it’s so great to meet you! I’m Mrs. T. or you can call me Jen – a Michigan mom, wife, new grandma (aka “Jemma”) and K-12 PE teacher who is on a mission to MAKE SCHOOL FUN AGAIN!
Polka Dot Pass is Perfect for elementary PE warm-ups, basketball units, or skill-building stations.
This low-prep, minimal equipment game, boosts chest passes, bounce passes, team work and math skills, while keeping kids active, laughing, and begging for more gym time!
POLKA DOT PASS is a TOTAL BLAST! So, if you’re ready…
LET’S GET PASSING!
BASKETBALL FOCUS SKILL: Bounce, Chest Passing
This basketball skill game works best as a small group (4-10 students) station activity.
Equipment Needed
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Station:
- BASKETBALLS (One for each student)
- COLORED PAPER CIRCLES or better yet, Vinyl POLKA DOT WALL DECALS from Amazon
- BLACK DRY ERASE MARKER and ERASER
- DRY ERASE BOARD
- Large BIN or TUB
Game Set-Up
FIRST, Place the basketballs, dry erase board, and marker inside the large bin or tub in an area near a large wall where you want to set up the station.
NEXT, stick the wall circles up on a wall.
FINALLY, use a black dry erase marker to write different point amounts on each of the polka dots – I usually make the smaller dots worth more!
Game Instructions
Students stand several feet away from the Polka Dot Wall with their basketballs and take turns chest and bounce passing their basketballs trying to hit the polka dots.
Students can use the dry erase board to keep track of their points individually or as a team.
First individual or team to 100 WINS!
Station Tips
📌TIP #1: You can make it easier by having younger students stand closer to the wall, and harder by having older students stand further away.
📌TIP #2: If you don’t have a line already on the floor at the distance you want, you can easily use chalk, tape, or even a laid out jump rope.
📌TIP #3: When cleaning or erasing the numbers on the vinyl polka dots, a cleaning wipe or a Magic Eraser works really well.
📌TIP #4: Polka Dot Pass also makes a great Basketball PE Station and is included in my 10 Mega Fun Basketball PE Stations Resource.
This low prep, minimal equipment game is also a very easy emergency PE lesson plan to leave for a substitute teacher. Just print off, gather up the equipment and you’re good to go.
