Hi there, it’s so great to meet you! I’m Mrs. T. (Love 2 Teach and Learn) or you can call me Jen – a Michigan mom, wife, new grandma (aka “Jemma”) and K-12 PE teacher who has also taught Kindergarten, 3rd, and 6th grades.
I love teaching PE class because I get to spend time telling silly jokes and exercising while laughing with my students.
READY! SET! LET’S PLAY!
TRICK or TREAT MOVE Your FEET, is so much fun. I just know you are going to love playing it with your kiddos this Halloween season.
Equipment
For this Awesome Halloween PE Game, you will need the following pieces of equipment:
- 3-4 Hula Hoops
- 3-4 Small Buckets
- 40-50 Unifix Cubes that Connect
- Kids Ready to have a TOTAL BLAST!

Game Set-Up
FIRST, Depending on your class size, spread 3-4 hula hoops out on the gym floor.
THEN, Place 10-15 separated Unifix Cubes in each of the Trick-or-Treat Buckets.
FINALLY, Choose 3-4 students to be the first homeowners (hula hoops are the homes) to start the game.

Game Directions: Trick or Treat, Move Your Feet

FIRST, Explain to the students that it is Halloween night. Give 3-4 students a bucket filled with cubes and have each stand inside a hula hoop.
Explain that the hula hoop is their house and the cubes inside the bucket is the candy that they’ll give out to the kids when they come trick-or-treating at their house.
NEXT, When the Halloween music starts all of the trick or treaters should skip (or any other locomotor movement that you choose) to the houses that they want to trick or treat at.
When they get to a house, they must yell “TRICK OR TREAT.” The homeowner then gets to decide what exercise and how many of that exercise they must do before they get their candy -Example: “Please do 5 Jumping Jacks” or “Please give me 3 good Push-Ups”
THEN, Once the trick or treater completes the exercise the homeowner must give them one cube/piece of candy. The trick or treater can then move on to another house.
*The OBJECT OF THE GAME is to be the trick or treater who collects the most “candy” during the round.
FINALLY, Choose new homeowners and play another round until all students have had a chance to be a homeowner.

Game Teaching Tips

TIP 1: Have the trick or treaters connect the cubes as they collect them. It makes it easier for them to carry and it’s also easier to count them up at the end of the round if they are in a stack (Makes a great math lesson too).
TIP 2: I like to play fun Halloween music during each round (FAVORITES: “I Want Candy” and “Monster Mash.”
TIP 3: I tell the homeowners that the trick or treaters should say “thank you” after they give them their candy and if they don’t they can ask them to do an extra set of exercises (A great way to reinforce good manners.)
