Frisbee Golf (Easy Game Set-Up)

Frisbee Golf Game Set-Up: Love 2 Teach and Learn

FIRST, divide your class into 4-5 teams of 2-4 students each.

THEN, assign each team a color and give them each a matching colored frisbee, a scorecard, clipboard and a pencil.

NEXT, place 4-5 colored cones down, spread out in a line, in the grass, and send each team to a different cone or frisbee “hole” to start at.

FINALLY, place the matching colored laundry basket several feet away from each cone at varied distances.

*If you have them, place the matching flags into the ground at each hole. Flags are optional but work great for seeing the hole from far away if you have them.

OBJECT OF GAMEGet your frisbee into the “hole” in the fewest throws – and be the team with the lowest combined total score.

When the teacher blows the whistle, the game begins.

Students each take an individual turn throwing their team’s frisbee (starting at their cone) as many times as it takes to get it into the “hole” or the laundry basket.

While one student is taking their complete turn, another student is holding the clipboard and recording their teammates’ score.

Students on the team that aren’t throwing can help count throws for their teammate and if you don’t have flags you can have a student stand next to the basket/hole so it is easier for the thrower to see their target.

Once the teacher sees that all groups have finished their hole and recorded their scores, he/she blows the whistle and students rotate together as a team to the next hole. Repeat until all teams have played all holes.

Students then total up their scores and the team with the lowest score or average score WINS!

Bonus Game Teaching Tips

Game Tips for Frisbee Golf - Love 2 Teach and Learn

📌TIP 1:  If you don’t have different colored cones you can just number the cones with a sticky note taped to the cone with the hole number written on it.

📌TIP 2:  I play this game with my lower elementary kids, however, I only use the scorecards with grades 3 and up. I also vary the distance of the holes away from the cones based on the age/grade level I’m working with.

📌TIP 3:  I make a rule where 6 is the highest score a student can get. If they get to 6 and still haven’t gotten their frisbee into the hole they automatically get 6. This helps keep the game moving and frustration levels low.

📌TIP 4:  Try to keep your teams small (2-4 students is best). I also think having 4-5 holes works best (more than that the kids start getting bored).

📌TIP 5:  I get my round laundry baskets for this game at the dollar store. They are one of the 125 Dollar Store Items I use for PE Class. They have a bunch of different fun colors too.

📌TIP 6:  I also usually throw a few bean bags (or other small weighted items) into the baskets to keep them from falling over or getting blown away outside – especially if it’s an extra windy day.
