20 Minute to Win It PE Games
Perfect for elementary PE, brain breaks, field day, and active classroom fun, these Minute to Win It style challenges are simple to set up and sure to become student favorites.
These Minute to Win It PE Games were designed to be played with two teams but they can very easily be played with 3 or more groups or teams. The point system is also up to you. Or, don’t do points – You do you!
My favorite times to play these MTWI games are at the beginning of the school year (ice breaker activity) and the end of the school year (team bonding celebration of our year together in PE class).

READY! SET! LET’S PLAY Some Minute To Win IT PE Games!
Challenge Game #1: STACK ATTACK
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 40 Stackable Cups (Speed Stacks Cups work Awesome)
HOW TO PLAY: Give 20 cups to each team. Each team works together to quickly build a tower of cups. The team with the highest tower at the end of 60 seconds earns the points!
Challenge Game #2: JUMP ROPE SHOWDOWN
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 1-2 Long Jump Ropes
HOW TO PLAY: Using a long jump rope, two group members twirl the rope while another member jumps. The object is to have the most consecutive jumps without missing during the 60 seconds.
Challenge Game #3: FREE THROW FRENZY
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 Basketballs
HOW TO PLAY: Give each team a basketball and send them to a hoop. The object is to make as many free throw shots as you can in 60 seconds. The team that makes the most free throws earns the points!
Challenge Game #4: PLANK HOLD SHOWDOWN
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED
HOW TO PLAY: Each team should choose the member with the strongest core muscles. They will be given 60 seconds to perform a plank hold with good form. The team member that can hold the longest plank earns the points!
Challenge Game #5: BUMP BATTLE
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 VOLLEYBALLS
HOW TO PLAY: Each team grabs a volleyball and forms a circle.The object is to have the most consecutive bumps with your team during the 60 seconds. The team with the most consecutive bumps earns the points.
Challenge Game #6: GO FISH RELAY
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 1 DECK OR CARDS
- 2 CONES
HOW TO PLAY: Scatter the cards facedown in the middle of the gym. Each team makes a line behind their cone.
The first group member runs to the middle, grabs one card and brings it back to their team, high fives the next team member and they do the same.
After 60 seconds, each team counts up their card matches. The team with the most GO FISH matches earns the points.
Challenge Game #7: SNOWBALL SHOWDOWN
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 BUCKETS
- 2 BLINDFOLDS
- FAKE SNOWBALLS
HOW TO PLAY: One team member holds a bucket on their head. Another team member will be blindfolded and attempting to throw fake snowballs into the bucket.
The remaining team members will be giving the thrower tips on how and where to throw the snowballs since they will be blindfolded.
The team with the most snowballs in the bucket after 60 seconds earns the points.
Challenge Game #8: GRANNY PANTS RELAY
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 PAIRS OF GRANNY PANTS (or large pants, or large buckets)
- COLORED PLASTIC BALLS (or fake snowballs)
HOW TO PLAY: Each team chooses one person to wear the granny pants and stand a certain distance away from their team.
The rest of the team takes turns throwing one ball at a time trying to land it inside the giant pants. The team that collects the most balls in the pants in one minute earns the points!
Challenge Game #9: FOWLING
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 FOOTBALLS
- 20 BOWLING PINS
HOW TO PLAY: Set up 10 bowling pins for each team. Team members take turns throwing the football once trying to knock down all 10 pins. The team that knocks the most pins down in 60 seconds earns the points!
*If a team knocks all 10 down before the 60 seconds is up, quickly set pins back up and add to score.
Challenge Game #10: BALLOON BOP
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 BALLOONS
HOW TO PLAY: Each team grabs a balloon and forms a circle.The object is to have the most consecutive balloon bops (keeping it up without hitting the floor) with your team during the 60 seconds.
Challenge Game #11: SHOE TOWER
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- NO EQUIPMENT
HOW TO PLAY: Each team removes their shoes and builds a shoe tower. The team that builds the highest shoe tower at the end of the 60 seconds earns the points!
Challenge Game #12: FLIP CHALLENGE
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 CONES
- 2 WATER BOTTLES
HOW TO PLAY: Each team chooses one person to be the cone or the water bottle flipper. The team that gets the most upright bottle or cone flips in 60 seconds earns the points.
Challenge Game #13: HULA HOOP SHOWDOWN
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 HULA HOOPS
HOW TO PLAY: Each team should choose a person to compete in the challenge. The student who can keep the hula hoop up and going the longest during the 60 seconds earns the points!
Challenge Game #14: FROZEN STATUES
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED
HOW TO PLAY: The teacher chooses a pose that each person should mimic. After the timer starts, everyone holds the pose (ex. Stand on one foot) as long as they can.
As soon as they fall, they are out. The team that has the most statues standing after 60 seconds earns the points.
Challenge Game #15: LINE JUMP HOP
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED
HOW TO PLAY: Each team should choose a person to compete in the challenge. Students jump back and forth over a line as many times as possible during the 60 seconds. Most jumps earns the points!
Challenge Game #16: JUMPING JACK SHOWDOWN
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED
HOW TO PLAY: Each team should choose a person to compete in the challenge. Students see how many jumping jacks they can complete in one minute.
Challenge Game #17: TENNIS WALL BALL
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 TENNIS BALLS
- 2 TENNIS RACKETS
HOW TO PLAY: Each team should choose a person to compete in the challenge. Students see how many consecutive tennis ball hits against the wall they can complete in one minute.
Challenge Game #18: PUSH-UP SHOWDOWN
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED
HOW TO PLAY: Each team should choose a person to compete in the challenge. Students see how many push ups they can complete in one minute.
Challenge Game #19: QUICK PICK-UP
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- RANDOM EQUIPMENT (Whatever you have laying around – balls, cones)
HOW TO PLAY: The teacher dumps out a bunch of random “soft” equipment onto the gym floor (balls, cones, etc.)Then each team gets on one side of the gym.
The object is to have the cleanest side at the end of the 60 seconds. The team with the LEAST amount of equipment on their side earns the points.
Challenge Game #20: TEACHER SKETCH
SUPPLIES NEEDED for this Activity:
- 2 PENCILS
- 2 CLIPBOARDS
- 2 PIECES of PLAIN WHITE COMPUTER PAPER
HOW TO PLAY: This game is my FAVORITE of the Minute to Win It PE Games and I always leave it as the last challenge.
Each team gets a clipboard, one piece of blank paper, and a pencil. Give each team 60 seconds to draw a fun portrait of you, their Awesome PE teacher.
*I usually don’t choose a winner for this activity and award both teams the same amount of points for this one.
